He was nearly as terrified as I was, but because he was much older and had his mum there, was able to survive the terrifying ordeal somewhat better than I had. History repeating itself. W ar and Friendship My family had fortunately escaped the war in Europe.
They acquiesced an offer for a trip down under. Britain along with Australia, gave immigrants a new start, supplied housing that were transported from UK to Australia in kit form and assembled here in Canberra. These houses were essentially army barracks.
Cheap and nasty but cosy. We made it home. Both my parents experienced the concentration camps. Fortunately it was towards the end, just before the cavalry came in. My parents were farmers. They took it all away. My parents left family and friends behind. When you think about the sacrifice, you knew what courage meant.
