A list of the characters that appear in the Battle Angel Alita series. For the live-action film's characters, see Alita: Battle Angel. Daisuke Ido on the scrap heap in the beginning of the original Gunnm. While hardly all that intimidating on the outside, she later proved to be arguably the finest warrior on Earth and probably the whole Solar System, the reasons and implications of which touched in the great detail in the sequel manga Last Order.
In Mars Chronicle , she travels to Mars to wrap up unfinished business with the surviving Panzer Kunst, but becomes the target of a conspiracy. Later on, and especially by Last Order , Alita' hair loses its massive volume in favor of a more flattened shape.
Absurdly Sharp Blade : Her Damascus blades, which needs pressurized water to be sharpened and can cut almost anything. Adaptational Sympathy : Her past identity as Yoko is made more sympathetic in Last Order than she was in the original manga. In the original, Yoko was depicted as a fanatic who was willing to kill comrades because they were no longer able to fight and who was even willing to commit a suicide nuclear bombing. She's even mentioned as having engaged in a terrorist attack against innocent children and a remnant of her personality in Alita encourages the latter to destroy all of Zalem, as was Yoko's original mission.
Alita rejects Yoko and writers her off as a mass murdering terrorist fanatic. In Last Order , Yoko, while having been responsible for a much greater magnitude of deaths , is treated less as a fanatic for her faction and more as someone who did what she did to earn love from others. This is seen in how Yoko's remnant in Alita sobbingly admits that what she did was horrible and that she never felt loved by anybody and that even Alita hates her.
